Why Apply To TRill | Graphic Designer & Illustrator

A Free, Flexible Opportunity for Aspiring Designers & Visual Storytellers

Are you passionate about design that speaks to culture?
Do you love illustration, collage, or visual storytelling — and want your work to reach a real audience?

Maybe you’re dreaming of building a creative portfolio, working in digital media, or designing for a Gen Z publication that values originality and impact.

The Creative Internship Program from Trill Voices Inc. is designed just for you.

Since 2015, Trill has supported over 1,000 emerging creatives worldwide, helping young people publish, grow, and break into media. Now, we’re looking for the next generation of visual artists to help shape the look and feel of tomorrow’s journalism.

What You’ll Gain

As a Graphic Designer & Illustrator Intern at Trill, you won’t be doing generic design tasks — you’ll be creating real editorial artwork for a major youth-driven platform.

You’ll gain:

  • Hands-on experience designing for a digital publication read by Gen Z audiences
  • The chance to create illustrations and collages tied directly to published stories
  • Professional feedback from editors and design leads to strengthen your craft
  • Portfolio-ready work across editorial, social, newsletter, and interactive media
  • Creative freedom within a supportive structure — not corporate design churn
  • A flexible internship that fits around study, freelance work, or other commitments

This is a unique opportunity to grow as a visual storyteller while contributing to meaningful independent media.

    What You’ll Do

Design interns at Trill play a key role in bringing stories to life visually — creating artwork that matches the voice, tone, and energy of our platform.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    • Creating collages and illustrations based on editorial briefs
    • Designing featured images for article headers and occasional in-article visuals
    • Producing both illustrations and photo-collages depending on the story format
    • Developing engaging product-style graphics for select lifestyle and shopping content
    • Creating GIFs and interactive visual elements when needed
    • Supporting newsletter branding and design
    • Contributing ideas to improve the overall quality and creativity of Trill’s visual output

Assisting with social media curation and design when appropriate

      Why Join?

This is more than a design internship — it’s a chance to be part of a non-profit media mission built around access, creativity, and emerging voices.

Trill exists because too many talented young creatives are locked out of legacy media due to gatekeeping, privilege, or lack of opportunity.

      We’re here to change that.

At Trill, we believe powerful storytelling doesn’t just happen through words — it happens through visuals that spark emotion, clarity, and connection.

      This role is:

      • Remote and flexible — designed for students and early-career creatives
      • Completely free and open-access, with no cost to apply or participate
      • A chance to build a serious portfolio with published editorial work
      • A supportive environment where mentorship matters more than perfection

Unlike platforms chasing clicks, we prioritize depth, authenticity, and creative development — and designers are central to that work.
